They help cities and companies make everyday life simpler – and more sustainable. They combine experiences across disciplines to find innovative solutions that truly work. They rely on proven platforms but think far beyond their boundaries.
From smart city management to research projects with universities – they are where the future is being created. They are a partner for those who are not afraid to look further.
This is how the Brno Exhibition Centre introduced the Consortium wAIste and innovations (hereinafter CWAI) with our subsidiary d2B at the URBIS 2025 trade fair.
From June 10 to 12 the URBIS 2025 trade fair took place, aiming to showcase innovations for better living in cities and towns, enable meetings between local government representatives, academics, and entrepreneurs, and support their collaboration in problem-solving.
URBIS was located in pavilions A1 and A2 and the surrounding open areas, with the conference program held in the Rotunda hall and other program centers directly in the pavilions. The fair also included a demonstration area for drones and autonomous vehicles, as well as the Archimedes community center.
The 2025 edition focused on implementing innovative solutions with an emphasis on energy efficiency, mobility, digitalization of public administration, and the use of artificial intelligence.
The main topics of the conference were energy self-sufficiency and decarbonization, circular economy and smart waste management, digital transformation and smart city technologies, and smart mobility.
The program also focused on the participation of all generations in public affairs, the use of data and artificial intelligence in public administration, climate change, community energy, the use of drones in urban environments, living laboratories, 5G networks, and more efficient waste management.
The fair was attended by, among others, Minister of Industry and Trade Lukáš Vlček, Minister for Regional Development Petr Kulhánek, Minister of Transport Martin Kupka, Minister of the Environment Petr Hladík, and Deputy Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies of the Czech Parliament Karel Havlíček.
This concludes the evaluation of the URBIS 2025 trade fair by Veletrhy Brno. And how did Marcel Linek, the sales manager from d2B, view the two-day participation, and what caught his attention as an exhibitor?
URBIS 2025
One of the outcomes was a preliminary agreement on establishing an official collaboration between the newly launching research project InnovAIte Slovakia: Illuminating Pathways for AI-Driven Breakthroughs and the long-running research project AI4Waste Management: Research on prediction and optimization of waste management processes.
The common denominator of these two projects is the use of innovative approaches and the implementation of artificial intelligence.
The InnovAIte Slovakia project is a comprehensive research project carried out by a created transformation and innovation consortium of several Slovak companies and universities, with the participation of excellent foreign partners in the field of AI.
Its focus is on a wide range of aspects of AI implementation in domains such as Energy Management of Buildings or Transport Safety. The domain of waste management is not within the scope of this large project. The second mentioned project, AI4Waste Management, on the other hand, deals exclusively with the domain of waste management.
This project focuses on predictive and optimization tasks using AI. The collaboration will thus be mutually beneficial. InnovAIte Slovakia will provide, for example, experience with the proper architecture for integrating AI tools.
The AI4Waste management project will contribute specifics of available data and their protection needs. There will be a mutual exchange of experiences in the field of predictions, which are the subject of both projects.
